Connecticut has long been burdened by a state income tax that drains the hard-earned money of its citizens, stifles economic growth, and places an unnecessary strain on working families. As your candidate for State Senate in District 3, I, Matt Siracusa, am committed to putting an end to this financial burden and restoring the freedoms that belong to the people of this great state.

For too long, the state government has overreached, taking more of your income and giving you less in return. When I talk to residents across District 3, one thing is clear: people are tired of being taxed into oblivion while receiving diminishing benefits. The state income tax not only hurts individuals and families, but it also discourages businesses from investing here, slowing down our economy. This tax has taken away your freedom to spend and invest as you see fit, and it’s time for a change.
Empowering Connecticut’s Citizens
My plan to eliminate the state income tax is rooted in a simple but powerful belief: you know how to spend your money better than the government. By keeping more of what you earn, you’ll have the freedom to provide for your family, save for your future, and invest in the local economy. This isn't just about tax relief—it's about giving control back to the people.
Too often, politicians like my opponent, Saud Anwar, talk about "helping" families while continuing to expand government control over your life. But in reality, the more control the government has, the less freedom you enjoy. As someone who values personal freedom, I believe that you should decide what’s best for your life, your family, and your finances—not the state.
A Plan Rooted in Core Values
This plan is not just about taxes—it reflects my core values that I have consistently championed throughout my campaign:

By eliminating the income tax, we’ll make Connecticut more attractive for businesses and families alike, reversing the trend of people leaving our state in search of lower taxes and better opportunities.

I understand that eliminating the state income tax is a bold proposal, and it will require careful planning and budget restructuring. But bold solutions are exactly what Connecticut needs. We will ensure that essential services are still funded by cutting unnecessary government spending, finding efficiencies, and encouraging economic growth to generate revenue in other ways. By making government more efficient and accountable, we can do more with less.
